We continue to learn and to love those whom we serve every day. Earlier this month we watched the Welfare Department's Servant-Leadership speaker, Elder Uchtdorf. He shared an important work and service principle: Lift Where You Stand (churchofjesuschrist.org). If we lift where we stand, we can accomplish much good together. I was very moved by Elder Uchtdorf's strong and powerful testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ. As an apostle of Jesus Christ, he bears his special witness of Jesus Christ. He said, "I know Jesus Christ, and bear testimony of His Life, His Atonement, and His Mission"--may we all draw unto Him.
I recently received an adjustable PC stand--I literally stand more during my workdays. We love supporting the hundreds of active Humanitarian projects across our assigned 7 (4 active) countries with 7 wonderful senior missionaries who are giving of their resources, times and talents to do much good. They keep us busy with project proposals, approval processes, contract reviews, translation requests, signatures with vendors-suppliers & NGOs; and their follow through for hospital equipment & builds, school buildings & supplies, emergency funds for floods, earthquakes, mudslides, and typhoons (cyclones), water wells in remote areas, garden programs, books for schools and training for doctors. We survived our first typhoon the first weekend of September--Category 1 that was south of us into Vietnam -- we caught the north side of the storm.
Sue Oelkers and Michele prepared incredible fruit presentations for the Asia Area Mission Presidents who had weeklong training here in Hong Kong in early September. On Sunday 8-Sep-24, I was privileged to perform Sister Maricel's baptism. We arrived at church just before 12pm for choir practice and Michele saw the baptism program stating I would perform the baptism--I made the roundtrip home for a change of clothes during Sunday School hour [2-3pm] and was changed and ready by 3:15pm.
