Caleb's Spring Break Start in Poland (15-March thru 21-March)

A bit of a break (kind of) after we drove and waited with Lance Foster in Brno Czechia
🇨🇿 for his rental van pick up Monday early am. We enjoyed a nice breakfast together before Lance went back to rescue Ukrainian 🇺🇦refugees right away…see his FB posts, miracles, and stories in 2 days already! We debriefed Wed pm back at our Krakow church rescue center hub. Lance’s love and leadership skills will be invaluable as our “Rescue” van coordinator here in Kraków!
Monday afternoon in Jihlava Czechia, we washed clothes, did admin stuff (expense statements 🙄), and shopping. Thoroughly enjoyed 20 minute calls with our 2 youngest grandchildren (Rockwell-9 months and Peyton-2 months) and their parents—and our other children that evening.
Tuesday, we picked up Caleb Schroedter, our youngest son (19 until June… no more teenager status coming!). We did a quick Prague city walk with one tired jet lagged son. Picked up Prague church donations for the Cumorah Academy site which has become a Ukrainian 🇺🇦 refugee support center.
Wednesday, we drove back toward Krakow and stopped at Auschwitz (one hour from Kraków) for a somber reminder of what wrongs and evil come from war. May we all continue to pray for peace, lift the those in need, the downtrodden, the tired and weary along our way every day, every day, every day!

17-March-2022 Facebook post re: Caleb's spring break visit to Poland

We took Caleb directly to Prague Square, Charles Bridge (walk off the jet lag....?) down to Cumorah before arriving at our place in Jihlava for a brief overnight rest before we returned to Krakow.

Later that afternoon, evening we drove down to Cumorah Academy to drop off supplies Ben Okah prepared in Prague.  We've missed our Winter 2022 students.  We did not know we would also miss their graduation as we were in Poland into April 2022.

Evening in Jihlava, Czechia before we drove back to Poland -- Christmas in March!

We stopped at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp on drive back to Krakow, Poland. Caleb said it was an incredibly sobering experience--one he'll never forget--nor should we ever!

After this sober morning experience, Caleb and we went to work helping Ukrainians fleeing another war in their homeland.  He went to the Poland - Ukraine border 16-March-2022

Caleb went to the border with Jeremy the afternoon/evening he arrived in Krakow

Michele, the organizer, with much help from Alina!  (eventually moved to 1st floor)

Training from Presiding Bishopric security advisor

lunch with some young men, and a short spring break comes to an end...

Krakow Square.....

we drove by a few sights in Krakow, but he was okay just seeing them from the car, except we walked quickly to the Krakow Square...dinner that evening at Chicken (across from the Czech Mission Home)

sending Caleb off at the Prague Airport

On our way back to Krakow, we stopped by a friend near Olomouc to provide some care; on the way there we saw another town called Pacov  (Caleb's friend in Katy from 1st grade...Pacovsky, Dale)

on to a town near Olomouc to visit a friend from Ukraine seeking refuge

As I mentioned in my Facebook post, it may have been a few hours out of the way on our drive back to Krakow from Prague that day, but I hope we can always find time to minister to the one, as He did.
